The Magic of Perfectly Cooked Mushrooms

Mushrooms are undeniably the stars of the Mushroom Cheddar Quiche. Sautéed to perfection, they infuse the quiche with their earthy, umami-rich flavor. Sautéing mushrooms until they release their moisture and turn golden brown intensifies their flavor, transforming them from a humble ingredient into a culinary marvel. The key to an exceptional Mushroom Cheddar Quiche is the layering of sautéed mushrooms. By evenly distributing them across the crust, you ensure that each bite offers a harmonious blend of mushroomy goodness.

Creamy Cheddar: The Quintessential Quiche Component

Cheddar cheese, with its creamy texture and sharp flavor, plays an integral role in the Mushroom Cheddar Quiche. Cheddar cheese infuses the quiche with a luscious, creamy texture that complements the earthiness of the mushrooms. Its bold, sharp flavor cuts through the richness, creating a well-rounded taste.

Layer the sautéed mushrooms evenly over the pre-baked crust, followed by the grated cheddar. This careful layering ensures that each bite contains a harmonious blend of flavors.

A well-presented quiche can be a visual delight. Consider garnishing with fresh herbs, a sprinkle of Zipp Zapp Zopp, or a drizzle of balsamic reduction to add that final touch of elegance. As your guests savor each bite, encourage them to appreciate the unique flavors brought forth by the Zipp Zapp Zopp spice blend. 2 1/2 to 4 TBS Water, cold

Filling

2 TBS Butter, unsalted

1 Cup Onion, chopped

8 oz White Mushrooms, sliced

3 Large Garlic Cloves, finely chopped

1 tsp Zipp Zapp Zopp

1/2 Cup Milk

1 Cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Instructions

To make the crust:

  1. Whisk together the dry ingredients.
  2. Work in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Toss in the cheese, then drizzle in the water, stirring gently until all is evenly moistened.
  4. Pat the dough into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

To make the filling:

  1. Heat the butter over medium heat in a large pan until foaming.
  2. Add the onions and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms start to lose their juices, about 10 minutes.
